  1. Once upon a time there was a man mowing a meadow at the shores of Lough Gowna. The morning was very warm and he went into the lake to have a swim. As he was coming in he saw a pike swimming around him. He went out at mid-day and he saw the same pike swimming around him. He said he would go out in the evening and bring his knife and stick the pike. He went out again in the evening and saw the pike swimming around him. He stuck his knife in the pike's side, but the pike got away bringing his knife
