On the night of the marriage men and boys used to dress up in straw to disguise themselves. They used to drink whiskey which they would get out of the house. Sometimes they used to get money.
Sometimes there used to be a brush left lying on the floor at the door. If the bride lifted it she would make a good housewife. If she didn't she would make a bad one.
Superstitions.
Here are some of the superstitions the old people believed in long ago:-
It is lucky to keep a black cat at the house.
It is unlucky to keep a crowing hen.
