Linen is very useful for the making of table - cloths, and white handkerchiefs and sheets, and is also used in parts of aeroplanes.
There is not as much flax grown now as during the Great War, as the crop is not paying as well as then. A crop of flax leaves land very poor for some years afterwards. The present government is doing all in its power to get the farmers of the Saorstat to grow more flax.
