  2. Long ago there was a man living in the townland of Lislinn and his name was Mickey the Laddie and he never wore shoes in his life. He would go barefooted in the Winter time and in the Summer and he would walk into the town of Mullagh in the frost and snow in his barefeet. So we do not know who first wore shoes in this part of the country. Also a lot of people wear clogs in the Winter time to keep their feet warm. There are three shoemakers in this district and the children go barefoot in the Summer time. But they do not go barefoot in the Winter time because the weather is too cold.
