We looked at one and other in terror and then, instead of going home we went back inot the wake-house and into the room where the boy was being waked. The people, inside must have heard what we heard - every face was as white as the face on the bed".
    Another Bard
The other old man, who was over nintey when he died 6 months ago was just as good a story-teller and maker of rhymes. He, too, was always called "The Bard". This old man, as well as being a story-teller was an extraordinary herbal doctor. He could cure people when doctors left them to die - with herbal treatment. He was particularly clever about diseases of the intestines. He was a wonderful neighbour, amusing and useful so much so that the whole parish regretted him when he died.
