In the townland of Rantavan about a quarter mile to the south of Mullagh is Rantavan House. The present owners are a family bearing the name of Rountree; this is the fourth generarion of this name to reside there. The former owners wer an aristrocratic family of the name of Kellett. These owned extensive estates in Cloughbally near Mullagh, Cornasesk and Fortwilliam near Viginina. They also owned the townland of Rosehill ( ac - na - Meade) which they named after Miss Rose Kellett a daughter of the house. A branch of this family owned and resided at Kellettstown, North of the village of Moynalty. The remains of what was once an extensive residence marks the site in a field called the Grove in Rosehill where a branch of the family resided. They were wealthy - having enormous flocks of sheep, herds of cattle and numbers of horses. Foxes were very destructive to the sheep so they always kept two or three night watchment protecting the folds. There was a moate, commanding an extensive view of the surrounding country on the top of which a man in turn was standing guarding the stock. This mound or moate is locally known as carraig - na- ghaust from the fact that this mound is supposed to be haunted. This mound is supposed to contain hidden treasure.
