1. Thanks for a Present of a Walking Stick

   The Tevlins,Foxes, Farrellys etc were neighbouring farmers on this estate - all evicted from their holdings. James Farrelly made Tevlin a present of an oak walking stick for which he thanked Farrelly in the following lines.
   I have a friend and Farrelly is his name
   Who comes to see me though I'm poor and lame;
   Old friendships still within his breast abide,
   Unflinching friendships always true and tried,
   His generous heart is open, free and warm,
   He's freedom's friend in every shape and form.
   A brave undaunted, fearless Irishman
   Who always stands intrepid in the van
   The rights of Erin boldly to unfold
   And to St. Peter's flock and fold
   From wolf and panther and a ranting train
   Of bible-readers, infamous and mean.
   Sectarian bigots tremble when he's near
   And tyrant shriek when his loud voice they hear.
   In all his sweet, harmonious, thrilling strains
   Of Church and State he bitterly complains
   Because poor Jemmy's honesty inclined
   He hates oppression in his heart and mind.
   He feels for the afflicted and distressed
   When mild compassion moves his tender breast,
