  2. One of the greatest events in the history of this parish is known as the "First Mission". Held in 1865 it was the first to be held in East Cavan and crowds flocked to it from all over. Every house was crowded by, with visitors while granaries, barns were called into service as sleeping apartments. People who came twenty or thirty miles to the sermon and Evening Devotions slept in the chapel all night to get confession and to be at the five oclock mass the following morning.
