These weeds and herbs are equally for animals etc:
Nettles are good for turkeys, geese and ducks when young. Whins or Gorse are a splendid tonic or food for horses. Dock-leaf and cumfery make good feeding for pigs and sheep. These animals are also very fond of thistles and ragweed.
Here is a story told about Ragweed:-
Once upon a time a blindman and his son went on horseback to purchase a farm that was for sale. As the father passed through the farm he said to his son "here take my horse and tie him to a ragweed". "Alas" replied his son "I do not see a ragweed in the whole land". "Come away" said the old man "the ground that won't grow [?] ragweeds will not grow good crops.
