    Long ago people used not buy many pairs of boots. The young boys would get no boots except an old pair of their father's. When they were getting married they got their first pair of boots. Going to the chapel they wore the old pair and carried the new ones under their arm. When they reached the chapel they changed.
    In summer most country go barefooted. Many children wear wooden soled clogs.
    In olden times flat feet, chillblains, corns etc. were almost unknown.
