  1. 1. It is unlucky to sweep the floor after night-fall as you might sweep away your luck.
    2. At a wake the floor is never swept until the corpse is taken out of the home. It is unlucky.
    3. It is considered unlucky to go into a graveyard unless one has business there.
    4. If you get live coals in the ashes in the morning (except when the fire is raked) it is a sign of a death in the house.
    5. On New Year's morning never lend anything out of the house until you get something in. A black haired person coming in brings good luck and a red-haired person brings bad luck.
    6. To hear a cock crowing at night is an ill omen.
    7. A crowing hen is considered very unlucky, also a whistling woman.
