They would hand round the pipe and let each man get a smoke. About ten o'clock they would get their supper. The supper consisted of oaten porridge and buttermilk. In other cases it consisted of griddle bread and tea. Then they would leave before twelve o'clock and the expression used was "God send you safe home" - There are not so many pastimes in the district now-a-days as there were long ago. Now-a-days at Easter it is a custom for the young children to light a fire on the top of a hill to boil eggs and make tea.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
