  1. Willie Reilly lived in the west of Ireland, he was a gentleman.
He went to work as a gardener at Folliard Castle, Roscommon which was owned by a very rich gentleman.
He fell in love with the daughter of the place and was going to marry her, but he would not be let, because he was a Roman Catholic and she was a Protestant.
Then the father of the girl would not let her go out to meet him at all.
The girl gathered all her jewels together, and prepared to elope with Reilly, and brought her jewels with her.
As she was walking with Willie she handed him the jewels to carry.
The father sent after the pair, and they were caught.
The father had Reilly brought to court, As Reilly had the jewels, he was charged with stealing them, and he was put in jail.
The girl gave evidence and said she only gave him the jewels to carry, and she would take them back.
When she took them back she gave him a ring to wear on his right hand.
Willie was condemed and sent to gail.
