- Cromwell (see page 136).
In the eighteen century Nenagh Castle was a ruin and the top of the Castle is supposed to have been of some precious stone.
Cromwell is supposed to have come to Nenagh with the aim of finding some of this stone.
Nenagh Castle and the ruined monastery of Lisbony are connected by an under-ground passage. The soldiers that were defending the castle against Ginkell are supposed to have waited until the roof of the castle had falled in and gathered all the stone up and removed it to the secret passage.
Cromwell heard of the passage between the two places and that is why he ravaged the monastery of Lisbony.- Bailitheoir
