- This is a list of the farm animals at home, four cows, four calves, two horses, a donkey, six pigs, sixty hens, geese, turkeys and ducks.
The cows have got names, they are, Spot, Peg, Bluebell and Daisy.
The cow house is a big house with an zinc roof on it. There is an opening in front of each cow to let in air. There are four stakes in it, to which the cows are tied with long iron chains. The chain is put around the neck and fastened to the stake. When young cows are being tied they are tied by the horns lest they would be choked.
A branch of palm is sometimes hung over the door of the cow-house for luck. Some people put a pinch in the can before going out to milk, or if they are giving milk to anyone they put a pinch of salt in it.
The stable is a big house with a partition the horses. The horses are usually clipped about the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
