- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Spinning and Weaving:- Long ago everyone used to spin. First of all the wool was teased with cards. The wool was put in through the teeth of the cards and was well teased and seperated. Then the teeth of the cards were pulled contrary to each other until all the wool was taken out. then it was put on the back of the cards and rolled into a roll about 6 ins long 1 1/2 ins thick. That was called carding. Then a little piece of the end of the wool was hooked in on a hook of the spinning wheel. When the wheel started to go round it used to spin the thread. Along with spinning, the thread was gathered on a spool. When the spool was filled it was put on a reel and the reel put it into a hank.
