- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)an old bucket for a chimney on their houses.
Long ago the windows on those houses were very small because the people had to pay a penny tax on every pane of glass. The floors were made of clay and were very uneven. There was a half door on all the houses practically long ago and indeed some have them yet. Turf was used for the fire and sometimes old oak sticks which the people gathered in the bogs. Each side of the fire were two small hobs, and in the centre was a big iron stuck in the gable and a crook hanging from it. Rush candles were used for light. When the lamp oil came to use there were little tin blinks hung on the hob and those who couldn't afford the tin blinks(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
