- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the the right Irish. A poor woman used to come to our district looking for alms. She mostly wanted potatoes. The people called her "Mary the Prata". All the people liked to see her coming. They gave her many things such as eggs, bacon, meal and flour. I think she is dead now. She hasn't been round the country this long time.
Some of the travelling folk go around in families. The best known of them are the McCauleys and the McCanns and Mr Kiernans. A great many of the travelling dolk come when there is a fair locally.- Bailitheoir
