    Unluckiest months were May-Aug-"Sep"-October.
The old saying about May was "Marry in May you rue the day. "
With regard to these three months of Harvest they say. What's bound in Harvest is opened in the Spring:
Fear of death or separation I suppose.
There was a Rhyme about these days of the week and marriage
    Marry on Monday for wealth
    Marry on Tuesday for health
Wednesday the best day of all.
Thursday for losses. Friday for Crosses, and Saturday no luck at all.
I saw marriages in Bodyke Church every day except Sunday.
Priests stopped the Saturday night weddings because so many missed Mass the following day.
They also stopped these evening weddings for these with of church whose nuptial mass wed because many men turned up at the alter under the influence of drink.
    Match makers
These were men who got this job of making the matches in their locality. They were very important and were made much of.
A woman to make a match was regarded as very unlucky and was sure to turn out badly or a priest to make a match was also unlucky.
I often heard this that a Clare woman never had luck to marry into Connaught.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
