    Pat Ryan has a forge near the village at a cross. Each forge is near cross roads so as to convenience the public and catch the trade. His father was smith before him. Pat is now about 74 years of age. His sone has learned the trade now and works the forge.
    Guerin in Annagknead does a good trade. He is a new comer to the parish. He came from near Broadford.
    Michael Hinchy aged about 80 was a great smith - The forge is not used now. He is blind. His two brothers his father - His grandfather were smiths. Mike has given much help to collecting beal oideas. He is very intelligent and witty. He can go back very far and has a very clean memory.
    He was educated in Bodyke N.S. by my father Michael O'Doherty and could recite the pieces of Poetry he learned at school. He was very good at geography. He often tells of boys who were very stupid going to school and who got good government jobs from the English government. He was a good singer and dancer.
