- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)would not give in. Then the soldiers brought him to the river. The river was overflown and it was about twenty feet in depth. The soldiers gave him a push and James fell into the depths of the water. James was a very good swimmer & he managed to swim on to one of the banks. He ran on as fast as he could & soon made his escape. The soldiers were unable to swim and they had to let James go.
