- The local food in Galway is hot potatoes, boiled cabbage, and mackeral or rock-fish for dinner. perwinkles cockles, and buttermilk for supper and Homemade cake, honey (of which there is plenty) eggs and tea. There is no course of meals in Galway, a man has a meal when ever he wants it.
On Sundays the Connaction has stew for first course and his choice for drink of Porter, Poteen, whiskey, Bass or "Aran Ale", which is the local drink of the 'Aran Islands'
