    the new year to come in, and the old year to depart. On little Christmas or the twelfith day, candles are lighted in every room in the house.
    On St. Brigids a number of boys and girls go from house to house asking for money, those are called "brideog's." There is also an old custom which a number of people still do. It is to make rush or wooden crosses, and hang them up in the houses, to keep away all harm during the year.
