  2. The old people tell us that it is not right to throw out water or ashes on "New Years" day, or to give away milk. They say that if you did you would not have enough of milk for the year. They would not bring in water on "New Years" night because they said that the water is changed in to wine on that night. They would pick May flowers on the night and throw some of them at the door so that they would have luck at the Fair on May day, and they would throw more of them under the cows heads so that they would have plenty of
