- First of all they scrape the potatoes. When they have them scraped they strain it. Then they put flour and salt in it and bake it in a pan. Starch is made from potatoes. They scrape the potatoes and the water they get from them they let it rest in a vessel until the starch falls to the bottom. Then they got more water and wash it with it. When they have it clear they bleach it. When it would be stiff and dry they would use it as starch.
