Tá mo chleamhnas déanta ó bhean oidhche aréir

    (I)
Tá mo chleamhnas déanta ó bhean oidhche aréír
Is ní mó na go dtaithnigheann an bhean liom féin
Fágfad ar an áit í is éalóch mé leat féín.
Síos faoi luibín na Coille Craobhaighe.

    (II)
Bhí mé thoir agus bhí mé thiar
Bhí mé i gCorcaigh is i mBaile Átha Cliath
Macsamhail mo chailin deas ní fhaca me ariamh
Ach an bhean dub h a dtug mé grádh dhi.

    (Translation)
    (1)

My match it is concluded since ere last night,
And it isn't with the girl I love or like,
I'll leave her there behind me and go with my heart's delight (?)
And its down by the woods we'll wander.

(They used to sing the verse long ago first in Irish and then in English. If there was no chorus they would go back on half the verse again)
