  1. A Song -The Village Ball

Twas an awful sight in the middle of the night

Twas an awful sight in the middle of the night
When the Guards came in Oh Bligh me!
When the music stopped sure my spirits flopped
    Till Halpin tripped behind me

    (2)
Then came a rush and a bit of a push
An the back door opened slyly
Soon a few young tarts with beating hearts
    Were outside coortin shyly

    (3)
I admit that I'm raw an I know no Law
But say that I'm wrong I defy ye
When I say to yer face tis a clean disgrace
For rafflin a gooseen to fine me.
