    Bhí fear in Duithigh Déise tamall de bhlianta ó shoin agus bhí feirm bheag aige. Ní raibh aon sprioch ann chun oibre agus bhí a rian air, bhí sé go beo bocht agus fiacha go leor air. Chuir sé garraí prátaí bliain agus nuair bhí garraí curtha agus d'fhan sé agus bhí na fiadhailtí comh chuig leis na crainn aige. In deire an Samhradh bhí sé ag baint béile prátaí agus cra gheobhadh thar bragh ach an sagart paróiste. "Dia dhuit a Sheáin" arsa an sagart. "Dia is Muire dhuit a Athair" arsa Seán. "Tá na prátaí go mion agat" arsa an sagart. "Níl gaisce ar bith ortha" arsa Seán. "Cad a dhein tú leo?" arsa an sagart. "Ní fheadar" arsa Seán. "Cuireas iad agus d'fhaghas fé Dhia iad. Ach d'fhág Dia fúm féin iad agus cailleadar eadrainn iad.
