  1. Now in a state of collapse, Bullock Castle was once a convent. In the time of Cromwell these nuns suffered most. But they made a secret passage to the sea.
    One night the soldiers raided it by surprise. Many escaped by the passage but one feeble nun finding her way of retreat, barred by the soldiers, ran out on to the balcony.
