- There are four graveyards in the Parish of Kilbarron. The Abbey graveyard, The Pauper’s graveyard, Mullinashee graveyard, and Tetunny graveyard.
The Abbey graveyard is situated in the townland of Abbey Island, it is triangular in shape. Part of the Abbey is in the old abbey of Assaroe. Only Roman Catholics are buried in it. There are the ruins if the Abbey in the graveyard.
The Pauper’s graveyard is situated beside Mullinashee graveyard. It is rectangular in shape. It is situated on a height. The poor people of the workhouse used to be buried there because they had no money to pay for graves. It is surrounded by a high wall built of stone.
Mullinashee graveyard is situated in the townland of Townparks. Only Protestants are buried in the Mullinashee. It is square in shape. St. Anne’s church is situated in it, there were people buried under the church before it was build. Most of the tomb stones are made of marble and decorated. Some(continues on next page)- Collector
