The wind tumbled a lot of houses and blew the roofs off a lot. There were great crowds of slates, branches, sheaves of corn and hay flying through the air. The winds was so strong that it kept them up in the air for hours. Some of them fell on people's heads and killed them and wounded them. There was a great noise made by the slates that day. For a week after a storm it was said the people were busy covering up the holes that the trees came out of, sawing the trees and taking them away for fire
