  1. Local Marriage Customs
    From Christmas to lent is the most time marriages occur. On Shrove Tuesday or runaway Tuesday is the most days weddings is held sometimes weddings is held on Easter Monday. Thursdays and Tuesdays is the most days weddings is held. It is counted unlucky to marry in May. When a couple gets married the girl gets some money for a fortune. Some time ago when a girl got married her parents bought her a sewing machine. Long ago when the old people would meet at fairs or markets they used to make matches for their sons and daughters.
    On the night of a wedding there is always a feast held in the brides house and everyone (goes) gets there fill to ate and drink.
    The bays used to come around and put a bottle down the chimney and a cord tied on the on the bottle and the wedding would fill the bottl bottle
