  1. The Potato Crop.
    In our district each farmer ploughs the land for planting potatoes.
    In the Month of November and December the land is ploughed.
    every farmer ploughs the soil about five inches in depth.
    Then the ground is not manured to the Month of April.
    At first it is harrowed then it is grubbed about three times and then the drills are opened.
    Then the manure is drawn to the field and put in grape fulls in the drills.
    Then is is spreaded in the bottom of the drills.
    After wards the cuts are placed in the drills about one foot apart.
    Then the farmers turn the clay up over the cuts with a plough drawn by two horses.
