   The spraying mixture is composed of blue stone and washing soda dissolved in water.
   This mixture is sprayed over the green tops of the potatoes with a sprayer.
   In the absence of a sprayer a heather broom is used:

   This is dipped into the spraying mixture and shaken over the tops.
   This is done to prevent the blight from attacking the crop.

   They are dug then with a potato digger or with a spade.
