    A bunch of shamrocks from a friend,

    A song composed by an exile

    A bunch of shamrocks from a friend,
    Across the deep blue sea,
    Dear little sprig of the three leaf shamrock.
    There are none can tell how dear thou are to me,
    For thy leaves still smell of Irish heart.
    And to my mind you "the little three leaf shamrock" recalls the hill and glens deck at home.

    The sweet little shinning shamrock,
    Thy green leaves tell to me, a message true hearted love,
    Send the dear little shamrock to a friend,
    For I seem to hear a tender voice, above the city's roar.
