The first Sunday of Lent is called "Chalk Sunday" and the boys of the parish stand at the Church gate and chalk every unmarried man and woman that passes by. The night before Ash Wednesday is called "pan-cake night" and on that night pancakes are made and a ring is put into one of them. Who ever gets the ring would be married before the next "pancake night"
