  1. 1. There was an old schools in Abbey, about 14 years ago. It is a dwelling house now, for a family named Lynch. There were teachers teaching in that school. The names of those teachers were:- Mr. Whelan and Miss Donnelly.
    2. There was a school before that, it was on the road going into Abberton's house. The remains of the school are there all the time.
    3. The school before that was between old Tom Burke's and young Tom Burke's house. There is no sign of that school in the village of Ballygown.
    4. The school before that was in the monastery in the village of Abbey. The monks built this monastery about 600 years
