  1. 1. There are not many roads around this locality. There is a road going from Abbey to Gort which is called the Barnaboy road. It was made in the time of the famine to give work to the people.
    2. There is another road which goes from Abbey to Portumna, which is called the Kylemore road. It was also made in the time of the famine, to give work to the people that they would be able to buy food for themselves.
    3. There is another road going from Abbey, it leads on to Woodford. This road passes through Lacken Hill. This is a very old road. It is still used. People that
