Answers. The name of my townland is Glenamaddy and the name of my parish is Boyounagh and I live in the barony of Ballymoe. There are forty five houses in my townland, forty of them are slated and four of them thatched.Keavenys and Husseys are the commonest names around here. Some say that Glenamaddy means the Glen of the dogs and others say it means the valley of the Black Plain, because there is a lake near the town and it dries up in Summer and leaves a big black patch after it.There are ten old age pensioners in my townland, and none of them is able to tell stories in Irish or speak Irish.Shawn Treacy,
