  1. I
There's a mountain in Sligo and it bears a great name
Above all other mountains it is noted for game,
For fishing and fowling and hunting also,
And the finest of fruits on this mountain do grow.
    II
At the top of this mountain a castle does stand
It is covered with ivy from the top to the land,
Fine arches grand porches and the lamps burning bright,
'Tis a lighthouse for sailors on a dark stormy night.
    III
At the fort of this mountain an ocean runs wide,
And ships from all sailing in with the tide
The green flag is waving and the firing of guns
The finest of music and the rolling of drums.
    IV
Early next morning we all marched away,
Our guns merrily rallying and our pipes gently playing.
Some hearts they were cheerful but mine it was low,
When I thought of that fair one I left in Sligo.
