  1. A ship, named The Lark, was wrecked about the year 1834 off the Long Strand. It contained a cargo of wheat. It struck the Black Rocks and three sailors were drowned. The news spread quickly and two women and a man took a load of flour from it and were on their way home when they were arrested.
    Another ship, The Droningen, was wrecked near Lick Castle about the year 1882. It was a Norwegian boat and was on their way to America for a cargo of wheat.
