  1. I am living in the townland of Knockavadda in the parish of Corda. It is in the Barony of Trughenackmy. The reason why it was called Knockavada was because there were a lot of sticks in it long ago. About sixty years ago there were six families in it. but there are only two families in it now. The most common family name is Carmody. The ruins of four houses are to be seen there still. There was one of these houses built in one of our own fields near the river where people called Reidys made whiskey. One day they got word that the soldiers
