Many superstitions exist about certain customs on May morning e.g

It is very unlucky to give out milk on May morning or should it be done, the spell is broken by putting a Gráin Salain in the milk as it is taken out.
It is also considered unlucky to give a coal-of fire - on May morning. "You are giving away your luck for the year!!
The custom of bringing in "the Summer" still exists. The elder branches are supposed to be the luckiest. White thorn blossoms are considered most unlucky.
