  1. The Battle of Ovidstown was fought during the '98 Rising. Ovidstown is near Prosperous.
    Captain Farrell of Blackwood, Prosperous was a Lieutenant in the French Army. He was in charge of the insurgents at the battle of Prosperous. There were various O'Hanlons in the United Irishmen from the area all round Kildare. Cox mentioned in the Song, was a yeoman who threw in his lot with the insurgents. Bourke I have heard was a blacksmith whose weapon was a sledge hammer.
