    How to make a straw mat.
    First make a straw rope with your thumb twice as long as the mat to be made. Then get one person to hold one end of the rope, then plait or double the rope & put in a piece of straw cross ways. When you have enough of straw in the rope for the length of the mat, turn the mat to you plait the pieces of straw you put in the rope.. and for every one you plait put in a new piece of straw. Continue putting in the straw and plaitting them until you have the mat the size you require
    In the last plait or row put in no straw.
