  1. Travelling people still call at this district. They are not very poor. They sell small articles which the people buy from them. Sometimes they remain for a week. They sleep in caravans. They accept all sorts of alms. They travel in carts or in caravans. They go about in families, or sometimes they travel in bands. The family that comes to this district most often are the Stokes. They come for the local fair days. They do not bring stories or news from distant parts. The local people do not gather around to hear them. The travel all over Ireland.
