  1. There is but one forge in this parish. This one is situated on the side of the main road which leads from Balllinrobe to Westport. It is a man named Staunton who works in the forge. His father and grandfather, and great grandfather worked in it generations back. It is easy to know that this building is forge by the horse-shoe which is nailed on the door. This forge is thatched with straw.
