- When the people were building a house long ago they always chose a hollow spot for it to protect them from the rain. They always chose the south for the face of the house. These houses had only one window and some of them had none at all. Those windows were made of glass and some of them packed with straw.Those windows houses had two rooms and some of them only had one. Those rooms were very small and there was always a little window in each of them. There was sometimes a boarded floor in these rooms and also a flaged floor. those rooms were whitewashed with lime.
