- Potatoes are grown in all parts of Ireland. Each farmer sows about an acre of potatoes each year. Sometimes he sows more than an acre and other times less. The farmer ploughs the ground and harrows it finely. Then he makes drills and ridges. When the drills and ridges are made the manure is spread in the middle of them. He slits the potatoes into a few parts. Each part must have an eye in it. Afterwards the slits are covered over with clay and rolled.
In about a month afterwards they are set an artificial manure is added.
Next the stalks are moulded with nore clay. Last of all they are sprayed with sulphate of copper and next they are dug and pitted(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
