This district is along the River Foyle so there are no mountain paths in it. The river divides in two parts and there is an island between. There are two fords leading into the island. One is from County Donegal and the other is from County Tyrone. These fords are still used by the owner of the island. In by gone days the men of Donegal and Tyrone used these fords to make war on each other.
Before the battle of Knockavoe O'Donnell and the men of Donegal crossed over these fords.
